IRELAND VISA TYPES

ree

Here is the detailed information about Ireland (Republic of Ireland) Visa types, updated for 2025.

⚠️ Critical Warnings

  1. Ireland is NOT in the Schengen Zone: You cannot enter Ireland with a Schengen visa, and you cannot visit Europe (France, Germany, etc.) with an Irish visa.

  2. Ireland is NOT the UK: A UK visa does not grant entry to Ireland for Georgian citizens. While some nationalities (like Chinese or Indian) can use a UK visa to enter Ireland under specific waiver programs, Georgia is NOT on this list. You must apply for a separate Irish visa.

1. Short Stay Visas ('C' Type)

For visits lasting up to 90 days.

  • Visit Tourist:

    • For holidays and sightseeing.

    • Key Requirement: Strict financial checks. Irish immigration requires bank statements covering the last 6 months (unlike the standard 3 months for Schengen), showing a clear and steady income source.

  • Business:

    • For meetings, conferences, or signing contracts.

    • Restriction: You cannot work or receive a salary in Ireland.

    • Requirement: A formal invitation letter from the Irish company is mandatory.

  • Visit Family/Friend:

    • If you have a friend or relative living in Ireland.

    • Requirement: A detailed invitation letter from the host, plus proof of their residency status (e.g., Green Card/Passport) and their utility bills (proof of address).

  • Conference/Event: For attending specific scientific or professional events.

2. Long Stay Visas ('D' Type)

For stays longer than 90 days.

  • Employment Visa:

    • Crucial Step: You cannot just apply for this visa. First, you must obtain an Employment Permit from the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE).

    • Once you have the physical permit document, then you apply for the visa.

  • Study Visa:

    • For students enrolled in an Irish university or college.

    • Requirement: You must prove you have paid the tuition fees in full (or at least €6,000) before applying for the visa.

  • Join Family:

    • For spouses or children of Irish residents/citizens.
